Virtual Caesarean Support

If you’ve been recommended or have chosen to have a caesarean section and want to learn everything about what happens in the operating room, this workshop is for you! Our highly experienced midwife and educator, Lucy, will host an engaging evening session virtually on Zoom. This format is perfect for those who are time-constrained and prefer the convenience of an online live session.

  • Ways to relax leading up to and during your birth: Tips and techniques to stay calm and focused.
  • Admission to hospital process: What to expect when you arrive at the hospital.
  • What to expect in theatre: A detailed overview of the caesarean procedure.
  • Your birth – The caesarean: Step-by-step explanation of what will happen during the procedure.
  • Pain relief: Options and management for pain relief before, during, and after the caesarean.
  • Role and importance of Birth support: How your support person can assist and comfort you.

Workshop Details

Platform: Held online via Zoom, live with Lucy

Time: 6 – 8 pm

Best Time to Attend: It’s best to participate in this workshop from 30 weeks of pregnancy.

Additionally, you will get to know Lucy, your educator for the session, who may be there on the day. She regularly works in theatre at The Mater Hospital so look out for her if you’ve chosen The Mater Maternity to birth your baby!

Please note that this workshop is designed to educate you and your birth partner for caesarean births at any hospital and is not exclusive to Mater patients. We recognise and understand the importance of being educated by practicing midwives who work clinically, ensuring you receive the most up-to-date and realistic information.
