A wonderful long weekend with our Birth & Beyond Education families 🤎

Over the weekend we had the privilege of supporting so many couples through every stage of their journey.

Friday was a full day in clinic at North Shore Private Hospital, with antenatal follow-up appointments, emotional and physical check-ins, postnatal checks, birth debriefs, feeding support and newborn weight checks. These continuity appointments are such a special part of what we do, allowing us to walk alongside families before and after birth.

Saturday brought our Positive Birth Class in Manly. A room full of energy, laughter, thoughtful questions and open discussions made for such a rewarding day. Together we explored every birth scenario, discussed non-pharmacological pain relief techniques and all pain relief options available, so couples can make informed decisions when they begin their own labour and birth adventure.

Sunday morning was dedicated to our Caesarean Birth Class. Planned caesarean births deserve just as much preparation, education and celebration. We are passionate about supporting choice, and understanding what happens in theatre helps couples feel calm, confident and truly present for the birth of their baby. Knowledge is power!

The weekend finished with our Fourth Trimester & Feeding Class led by Kristin, who shared practical, realistic and evidence-based education about newborn life, feeding and the transition to parenthood. Giving families options, food for thought and practical tools before their baby arrives is something we’re so passionate about.

To every couple who joined us this weekend - thank you for trusting us to be part of your journey. We hope you left feeling more informed, confident and excited for the incredible adventure ahead.

As an Endorsed and practising Birthing Unit Midwife, Lucy brings extensive clinical experience caring for women throughout pregnancy, labour and birth. Alongside her is Kristin an experienced, practising postnatal ward midwife whose passion lies in supporting families through those precious first days and weeks after birth.

Together, they combine their real-world clinical experience with honest, compassionate education so you know not only what may happen, but how to navigate it with confidence.

✨ What should I wear in labour? ✨

The short answer? Whatever makes you feel comfortable, confident, and most like you.

Labour isn’t a fashion show, but feeling comfortable in what you’re wearing can make a real difference. Think soft, loose-fitting clothing that allows you to move freely and helps you feel relaxed. Many women choose an oversized tee, comfortable nightie, sports bra, crop top, or labour gown.

Some hospitals may ask you to change into a hospital gown, particularly if you choose to have an epidural or if additional monitoring is needed. But in the lead-up to that, you’re usually free to wear whatever feels right for you.
